Kathleen and the Celtic Knot is one of the most courageous books written by Siobhan Parkinson. This book takes place in a dance school in 1970 Ireland. A girl named Kathleen is tardy for the third time. Her principle had to talk to Kathleen's mother. The principle told Kathleen's mother that Kathleen has a talent. The principle tells Kathleen that two girls will help her go to the place she needs to go to. When she finds out they are the two snottiest girls in the school, she doesn't want to go with them but she has no choice. Kathleen's teacher tells her she was chosen to perform she is so excited, then her teacher told her that she had to provide her own clothing. That made her happy and sad. That's when she learns all types of clothing doesn't have to come from a fancy store you can make one with what you have. Will she ever have a dress? Will she win? What do you think her talent will be?
