Teen Read Week is October 12-17, 2009. This year's theme is Reading Beyond Reality. Celebrate by dropping by the library and picking up your Teen Read Week scorecard and a good book too.
Anyone in Middle School or High School can participate in Teen Read Week. You simply need to pick-up a scorecard at the library and turn it in by October 24. The scorecard lists possible activities and the points you can earn by completing each activity. Each point you earn is worth one chance to win a Teen Read Week prize pack.
The big event of Teen Read week is the first meeting of our brand new Teen Advisory Board. This is a group of middle and high school students that help the library by giving us a teenager's perspective. If you serve on the teen advisory board you might help plan programs, give input on our website, help design the new teen area, or just tell us what you like (or don't like).
Review a book, any young adult book, on our book review website.
This is a simple mad lib that you fill in with information about yourself. As an added bonus, if you show it to us on October 12, 13, or 14 between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., you will receive a bonus prize just for participating.
Think you can tell truth from fiction? Pick up your urban legends quiz in the library and find out. You earn 1 point just for filling it in.
Fill out this quiz to find out what you know about young adult fantasy worlds. You earn 1 point just for filling it in.
Remember, each point you earn = one chance to win a prize. Only the teens who earn the most points will be entered into the grand prize drawing. Each prize pack consists of a selection of Young Adult books and other fun goodies.
5 books that got made into movies
3 vampire books
2 slightly scary books
2 sports themed books
