Book: The Hearts of Horses by Molly Glass

    Recommended by: Karen

In the winter of 1917, nineteen-year-old Martha Lessen saddles her horses and heads for a remote county in eastern Oregon, looking for work "gentling" wild horses. Molly Gloss's writing is plain and simple yet captivating, kind of like Martha herself.  I liked getting to know Martha and meeting the friends she came to know through her work.  Great read and nice discovery while perusing the library stacks one day. I have to admit, the picture of the horse and rider on the cover intrigued me.
