Book: 1984 by George Orwell

Recommended by: Joseph

Wow, what a story. Fear. Instinct. (mis)Information. I'm not sure what to say except that, not unlike the experiences of protagonist Winston Smith, the weight of the world Orwell creates surrounds and overpowers and, with only slight glimpses of hope along the way, crushes into dust.

Also, if you're interested in learning about the author of 1984, check out Why Orwell Matters, in which the late Christopher Hitchens serves as your personal guide to Orwell's life and career in ten chapters of lively analysis.

National Library Week 2017 - April 9 - 15
clear
Libraries Transform is the theme for National Library Week 2017, reminding all Americans that today's libraries are not just about what they have for people, but what they do for and with people. Libraries are places of creativity where people can meet to share a hobby, use a 3D printer, edit a video, or use software to record their own music. Libraries offer access to the tools, technology, and training essential to the economic and cultural lives of their communities.

Come in today and see how YOUR library can transform your life.
