Staff Reading Pick
![]() Here is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff. Book: Hell above earth : the incredible true story of an American WWII bomber commander and the copilot ordered to kill him by Stephen Frater Recommended by: Barbara Captain Werner Goering was the nephew of Herman Goering who was a leading member of the Nazi Party and the commander in Chief of the Luftwaffe. What many people don't know was that he was a B-17 pilot in the US Air force. He fought in the war and was awarded honors. His co-pilot had orders to kill him if their B-17 was going down over Nazi territory. What was really interesting was that they both were LDS. Herman Goering's brother was converted by LDS missionaries after WWI and moved to SLC to work for the Mormon Church. The co-pilot ordered to kill him was also LDS. They became life long friends. A really interesting unknown story of WWII with a surprise ending! Want more reading suggestions?
