Staff Reading Pick
![]() Here is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff. Book: In the Company of Angels by David Farland Recommended by: Karen, Senior Librarian In the Company of Angels is based on the true life adventures of the Willie Handcart Company of 1856. Eliza Gadd is a spunky educated English non-Mormon traveling across the plains with her Mormon husband and children. Although Eliza is deeply in love with her husband and willing to do anything to keep her family together, she is not afraid to question the decisions made by those in charge of the handcart company. Eliza has a scientific mind that she uses to make her decisions and to try to influence her husband. It is not until she is truly tested at Rocky Ridge that she begins to understand her husband's faith in this new religion. Baline Mortensen begins her journey as a playful child from Denmark traveling with friends of her parents. She soon grows from an innocent child to determined young woman with a faith that never falters as she makes this harrowing trek across the plains. In the Company of Angels is a thought-provoking, outstanding read. Want more reading suggestions?
