Author Night at the Logan Library
clear

Update: Due to the overwhelming response we have received for this event, we are changing the venue so we can accommodate more people. The author night will now be held at Mount Logan Middle School (875 North 200 East).

We are excited to announce that the Logan Library will be hosting five popular and renowned authors on Friday April 22 at 6:00 pm.

  • Ally Condie: Author of the recently released Matched along with several LDS titles for teens including Yearbook and Being Sixteen.

  • James Dashner: Author of popular series for children and teens including The 13th Reality, The Maze Runner, and the Jimmy Fincher saga.

  • Jessica Day George : Author of Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow (an ALA Best Book for Young Adults), the Dragon Slippers series, and Princess of the Midnight Ball.

  • Shannon Hale: Author of The Goose Girl and others in the Books of Bayern series, the Newbery Honor winning Princess Academy, Austenland, and others.

  • Brandon Mull: Author of the extremely popular Fablehaven series, the recently released A World Without Heroes, and the Candy Shop Wars.

Beginning at 6:00 pm each author will speak for about 10 minutes followed by a 20 minute question and answer period. After this the authors will be available to sign books. You may bring your own book, or books will be available for purchase that evening. We are extremely lucky to have so many talented and nationally known authors living in such close proximity, and we look forward to hosting them at the Logan Library.

Banned Books Week 2010
clear
Banned Books Week Logo
This week is Banned Books Week. Banned Books week is an annual event that celebrates freedom to read or the freedom to express one's opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular. Banned Books Week stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them. To see a list of books that others have attempted to ban, view The American Library Association's (ALA) list of Frequently Challenged Books. While you are on the ALA website take a look at their list of Banned and Challenged Classics. Chances are that you will find one of your favorites on that list.

Celebrate your freedom to read by selecting a book from a list of banned books available at the Logan Library.
