Library Open Late Friday For Gallery Walk

The library will remain open later than normal on Friday, October 9th to participate in the CVCA Gallery Walk. We will be featuring a variety of artists in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.
  • The Gallery Wall will feature the photography of Johnny Lopez, a self taught freelance natural light digital photographer.
  • Music will be provided by classical guitarist Eric Burton.
  • Beautiful handmade piƱatas by Gloria Perez will be on display.
  • We'll also be have a free showing of the critically-acclaimed film Frida, a biographical drama about Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. This film is rated R. For anyone under 17, an accompanying parent or adult guardian is required.
When: Friday, October 9th: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Utah Humanities Book Festival - Wayne A. Wiegand

Wayne A. Wiegand, renowned American library historian, author, and academic, will share Part of Our Lives, his new history of public libraries in America.

When: Thursday, October 1, 2015: 7:00 PM
Where: Logan Library - Virginia Hanson Room

In Part of Our Lives, Wayne A. Wiegand delves into the heart of why Americans love their libraries. Wiegand listens to the voices of everyday patrons who cherish libraries. Drawing on newspaper articles, memoirs, and biographies, he paints a clear and engaging picture of Americans who value libraries not only as civic institutions but also as social spaces for promoting and maintaining the community.

Banned Books Week is an annual event that celebrates the freedom to read. This year the theme of Banned Books Week is Young Adult Fiction. Frequently Challenged or Banned Young Adult Fiction 2014-2015.

Banned Books Virtual Read-Out!
For the fifth year in a row, readers from across the country and around the world will be able to participate virtually during Banned Books Week, Sept. 27 October 3, 2015. Participants may proclaim the importance of the freedom to read by posting videos that will be featured on a dedicated Banned Books Week Virtual Read-Out YouTube channel.
