Bookcover: A Hatred for TulipsHere is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff.

Book: A Hatred for Tulips by Richard Lourie
Recommended by: Kara, Librarian
In the first few pages of this coming of age story set in WWII Holland, the narrator reveals that his own story intersects with Anne Frank's. This book explores the complexity of moral decisions and how our own need for survival can lead us to betray others. Though this is a work of fiction, it is certainly thought provoking, especially for anyone familiar with Anne Frank's life.

Bookcover: Ivory's GhostsHere is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff.

Book: Ivory's Ghosts: The White Gold of History and the Fate of Elephants by John Frederick Walker
Recommended by: Ronald Jenkins, Library Director
This is an interesting history of the elephant. While most of us are today are fascinated by these large land-roving mammals, it is their ivory that tells the real story.  For most of the world's history, the ivory of elephants has led to their destruction due to the greed of man for this unique natural treasure.  Ivory's Ghosts is informative and thought provoking.
