Bookcover: In the Company of AngelsHere is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff.

Book: In the Company of Angels by David Farland
Recommended by: Karen, Senior Librarian
In the Company of Angels is based on the true life adventures of the Willie Handcart Company of 1856. Eliza Gadd is a spunky educated English non-Mormon traveling across the plains with her Mormon husband and children. Although Eliza is deeply in love with her husband and willing to do anything to keep her family together, she is not afraid to question the decisions made by those in charge of the handcart company. Eliza has a scientific mind that she uses to make her decisions and to try to influence her husband. It is not until she is truly tested at Rocky Ridge that she begins to understand her husband's faith in this new religion. Baline Mortensen begins her journey as a playful child from Denmark traveling with friends of her parents. She soon grows from an innocent child to determined young woman with a faith that never falters as she makes this harrowing trek across the plains. In the Company of Angels is a thought-provoking, outstanding read.

Bookcover: Unseen AcademicalsHere is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff.

Book: Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett
Recommended by: Danielle, Bridgerland Literacy Director
Terry Pratchett once again takes you to Discworld to visit strange yet familiar characters. In Unseen Academicals, Ankh-Morpork's benevolent Tyrant, Ventinari once again has plans for city improvement. Ventinari has decided the aged, overweight wizards of Unseen University will learn to play football and as an inspiration to the rest of the city, they will play and win a match without using any magic.

Just as in any Discworld book, things are always a bit more complicated than they first appear. In addition to adding football to the University, Pratchett brings in new characters to add flavor to the already smelly Ankh-Morpork. Mr. Hix of the Department of Post-Mortem Communication is particularly entertaining.
