Book: Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin
Recommended by: Becky, Childrens Librarian
This is easily the best children's fantasy novel I've read in years.  Deftly weaving together fantasy and Chinese mythology, it tells the story of a plucky young girl who sets out on a quest to find the Old Man of the Moon and change her poverty-stricken family's fortunes.  Beautifully written and totally captivating.

Book: Tudley Didn't Know by John Himmelman

Tudley the turtle is able to do amazing things because he didn't know they aren't possible.  This delightful picture book gives the message that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.

Book: On Acting by Laurence Olivier
Recommended by: Joseph, Associate Librarian
This final book by Sir Laurence, generally acknowledged as the greatest actor of the 20th century, is equal parts memoir and acting instruction.  Written only three years before his death in 1989, it provides a unique look into the acting profession on stage and screen by one who was in the middle of it from the 1920s onward.  I highly enjoyed this book and am grateful the author chose to record both his advice and memories before leaving us to return to the warm stage lights in the sky.
