Book: The Sea Garden by Deborah Lawrenson

Recommended by: Karen

What is it about WWII stories involving the French resistance, British intrigue and romance that we find so interesting today?  This novel has it all! Lawrenson draws the reader in with a mystery on a Mediterranean island then back in time to WWII France and Britain.

If you like puzzles, mystery, suspense, historical intrigue with a little romance tossed in for fun check out The Sea Garden!

Book: The Christmas Chronicles: The Legend of Santa Claus by Tim Slover

Recommended by: Debbie

This is a fun, imaginative version of how Santa became Santa, starting with the orphan, Klaus, who was taken in by a guild of craftsmen in 1343. After the Black Death had swept through the land, he made toys for all the surviving children in his village and delivered them, with the priest's blessing, on Christmas Eve to put some joy back into their lives. Those children told the children from other villages, and Klaus, not wanting to disappoint any of them, found himself with more deliveries to make than he could do in one night. Enter his (soon to be) wife, Anna, and her reindeer, Dasher. (The magic and the flying come in later.)

Bookcover: The A Short Stay in HellHere is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff.

Book: A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L Peck
Recommended by: Joseph

Imagine that Hell is an infinite library and the only way to escape is to locate your biography. A slow and unpromising beginning quickly spirals out of control into a nightmare of loneliness, tedium, and gore. This story will make you consider your life and choices through the lenses of space and time, of eternity. But do yourself a favor and read Jorge Luis Borges' The Library of Babel first.
