Theral V. Bishop was born 11 April 1914, a son of Vernon David and Rebecca Marion Wold. He married Mabel Michaelis 16 June 1937 in Logan, Utah, they had three children. He died 11 October 1997 in Logan and is buried in the Garland City Cemetery.
He lived on a wheat farm in western Box Elder County until he was eight years old when the family moved to Garland. He graduated from Bear River High School. He attended Utah State University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in business administration and economics.
He had 37 years military service, including seven years active duty time. He saw combat duty in the Pacific during World War II and in the Korean Conflict. After returning home from Korea he served as a field artillery battalion commander in the Utah National Guard until his retirement in April 1974.
He moved to Logan in 1956, where he worked as a research assistant at USU and then as a State Farm Insurance agent. His numerous contributions to state and community included service as a member of the Utah Health Systems Agency, the Bear River District Health Planning Committee, state, county and city road planning committees, and as a member of the Cache Friends of Foreign Students organization, where he served as president for one year.
Awards he received included the Cache Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award and on two occasions the Utah National Guard Minute Man Award.
He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in various positions, most recently as an LDS Temple officiator and sealer. He served one term as Logan Mayor and one term as Logan City councilman.[1]
