7:30 PM Celebrate 100 Years at the Caine Lyric Theatre
The Lyric Theatre opened in 1913 as the showplace of northern Utah. The charming 380-seat Victorian-style theater with its jewel-box proscenium is crowned with six coats of arms and the heraldic bearings of the United States of America.
Following World War II, the theater fell into disrepair. After briefly being considered for demolition, it was acquired by the university and in the spring of 1961, the newly restored Lyric Theatre opened as part of Utah State University.
In 2000, the historic theater was restored and expanded. Renamed the Caine Lyric Theatre, the restoration and expansion included a new lobby, restrooms, green room, dressing rooms and gallery.
The Caine Lyric Theatre celebrates 100 years this season, and while the theater and its company have enjoyed a century of support, more is needed. Invest in the Caine Lyric and help continue to advocate for the arts in communities everywhere. Join us this summer as we celebrate this last century and lay the ground work for the next.
The evening will feature a celebration in song and dance of favorite moments from past old lyric productions, followed by a reception. Call or visit the website for tickets.
