The Music Man

Music Theatre West presents The Music Man.

Wicked, funny, warm, romantic and touching, The Music Man is family entertainment at its best. Meredith Willson's six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957 and is a family-friendly story to be shared with every generation.

The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.

4:00 PM Islam On Terrorism Dinner and Lecture

Islam on Terrorism is our second public lecture scheduled to enlighten the general public about the core principles of Islam as a peaceful way of life in contradiction to what many media outlets portray Muslims to be. The extremists fundamentalists Islamic groups that have spilled blood of innocent people across the world do not represent the true teachings of Islam and true Muslims condemn these acts. Come and join us for dinner while we share the beauty of Islam and its position in promoting peace and unity. As Muslim students on campus, we are peaceful, loving and always want to contribute to the betterment of our immediate society positively.

7:30 PM Civics and Humanities for Non-Majors

This adventurous new play dives into campus life in two different times (2016, days before the presidential election, and 1976) as two student-formed political action groups attempt to draft by-laws. Conflicts arise as they discover that defining a governing identity within any group requires more than patience; it may just require a miracle. With humor and crackling dialogue, the play tackles what may be today’s biggest question: Is it possible to find common ground when no one seems to be listening?
