8:30 AM Gift of Hearing Walk and 5K Run
As part of our Gift of Hearing Event, we will have our Gift of Hearing Walk: this is where children with hearing loss will lead their families and members of the community on a lap around the track. There will be posters displaying facts about hearing loss along the way. This will be a great way to share with our community facts about pediatric hearing loss. Our hope is that each family will bring grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, and friends to celebrate this day with them. We also hope to have many members of the community whether they know anyone with hearing loss or not to register and help support our cause.
After the walk we will have lunch sponsored by local businesses. Our event will conclude with the announcement of our silent auction and raffle winners. We raised a little over $12,000.00 last year. This year our goal is to raise $25,000. We hope you will help spread the word and come support this great cause!
9:00 AM Permaculture Workshop
Join national expert and author in the fields of permaculture and ecological restoration, Joel Glanzberg, in this two-day workshop where you will have the chance to help implement Utah's first official campus permaculture garden! Come build concepts and skills to turn your yard into an oasis and help you prepare for an uncertain future.
The workshop is open for teachers, students, and the general public. Spots are limited, so register online today!
5:30 PM Bear River Basin Forum
The Forum will feature the film Gasland II. In this explosive follow-up to his Oscar-nominated film Gasland, filmmaker Josh Fox takes a deeper, broader look at the dangers of fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil, now occurring on a global level.
In addition to the film they will also have guest speaker Shiloh Williams, a drilling professional from the Uintah Basin who will do a Q&A to give an on-the-ground perspective of drilling.
The original Gasland was nominated for Best Documentary at the 2011 Academy Awards.
Tickets for dinner are available on the website. Seating is limited and early registration is encouraged.
