Musical Beginnings registration (class)

USU's Youth Conservatory presents MUSICAL BEGINNINGS....the Youth Conservatory’s newest course offering for the youngest musicians.

Designed for parents/caregivers and their babies/toddlers to take together, this class teaches ways to play musically with your child and develop their sense of beat, movement, and pitch, preparing them for musical success later in life. Together you’ll sing, chant, move, dance, listen, and play simple instruments. No at-home piano required for participation.

The 13-week course (Sept-Dec, or Jan-Apr) is $115. This is less than $9 per class! The $30 materials fee covers the cost of a parent book, CD, and music bag with musical rattle, rhythm sticks, and a colorful scarf for use in class and at-home.

9:30 AM Common Literature Experience - Convocation Lecture

This year's Common Literature book is Frankenstein, the 1818 edition by Marry Wollstonecraft Shelley.

Frankenstein, a classic work of science fiction, often brings to mind Boris Karloff’s character in the 1931 film, or the green-tinged monster masks worn for Halloween. The book, however, always surprises those who think they know the story. It is a thought-provoking tale that examines education, knowledge, society, and, ultimately, what it means to be human.

The public is welcome to join first-year students in attending the Common Literature Convocation and listening to Dr. Brian McCuskey of the USU English department and Dr. Charlie Huenemann of the USU Philosophy department. This year's convocation will also be broadcast live at http://aggiecast.usu.edu.
