Jan Pinborough is the author of the new book Miss Moore Thought Otherwise. She will speak about the book and its subject, Anne Carroll Moore, an important early advocate of children's literature and the person after whom the library was named. Pinborough is the managing editor of the LDS children's magazine, The Friend.

7:00 PM Summer Helicon West
Helicon West, an open-mic reading session for writers from our community, will meet the fourth Thursday of each month during the summer. It will be an interesting hour of poetry, short fiction, and other writing read by local writers. Special guest readers, including regional authors, educators, and publishers, are sometimes featured. Bring your own short pieces of writing to read to an audience, or come to listen and support community writers. All styles of original writing are welcome. Readers are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes early to sign up.
