National Friends of Libraries Week!

Celebrate National Friends of Libraries Week at the Logan Library!

  • Monday, October 19th:
    • Join us for our Centennial Celebration of the 1960's!
      • 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm
    • Special presentation of Disney's animated movie The Jungle Book (G)
      • 6:30 pm in the Jim Bridger room

  • Wednesday, October 21st:
    • Displays on US and World events of the 1960's, all day long
      • Featuring historical recordings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy.
    • Dr. Ross Peterson, USU Professor
      • Discussion on the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's.

  • All week long: the Friends of the Logan Library will be holding a Special Book Sale.
    • Monday through Thursday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm; Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Logan Library Storytime Registration

Logan Library's Storytime is a program for children 5 and under that introduces children to books, reading, and the library. Each Storytime we explore a different theme through books, songs, puppet stories, fingerplays, and more!

Registration is required for our preschool Storytime for children ages 3 to 5. It is 30 minute program offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. Choose a day and time and go to http://library.loganutah.org/kids/storytime.cfm to register your child. Each registration lasts for 1 block which is six weeks.

Upcoming Registration Dates are as follows:

  • Block 1: Monday, August 18th to Saturday, September 6th
  • Block 2: Monday, October 6th to Saturday, October 25th
  • Block 3: Monday, December 1st to Saturday, January 10th
  • Block 4: Monday, February 9th to Saturday, February 28th
  • Block 5: Monday, March 30st to Saturday, April 18th

For children under three, we have a Toddler Time program Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at 11AM that lasts approximately 15 minutes. This is a drop-in storytime and does not require pre-registration.

9:00 AM Pumpkin Walk (North Logan)

Since 1983, the North Logan Pumpkin Walk has been a Cache Valley Utah tradition! This free to the public event features dozens of displays created from pumpkins by local residents.

Park at Greenville Elementary (400 E. 2500 North) or the Cache Valley Specialty Hospital. The Cache Valley Transit District will run buses every few minutes between the school to Elk Ridge Park, where the Pumpkin Walk is held. The Pumpkin Walk is open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm each day.

Carla Schulz will be back this year with her puppets and a new show.

We are Such Stuff as Dreams are Made On celebrates 50 years of the Utah Shakespeare Festival as seen through the eyes of its artists, audiences and community.

Opening Reception held Thursday, October 16th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Gallery Talk presented on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 4:00 pm.

Come join us in the Lake Bonneville Room every Thursday afternoon at 3:30 for our After School Activity Programs. Each week is something different. Choose your interests or come every week! All activities are free and open to the public. Intended for kids age 5 to 11 and their families.

2nd Thursday: Technology With Cache Makers

3rd Thursday: Lego Club

4th Thursday: Stories and Crafts

7:00 PM Helicon West Open Mic Night

Helicon West is an open-mic reading/featured readers series for local poets and writers. Creative writers are invited to read up to 7 minutes of their original work. Arrive early to sign up. Readings are free, open to the public and uncensored.

Helicon West provides a regularly-scheduled place and time for members of the writing community to give their work a public voice, with no restrictions on levels of skill and no censorship of ideas or craft. Publication of readers' work is a main goal.

Sponsored by the USU Writing Center and the Logan Library.
