Cache Children's Choir Summer Camps

Sing! Move! Play! With nationally known instructors.

Summer Music Institute: Ages 6-12, June 19th - 23rd

  • Summer Music Institute is for students ages 6-12. Sing, play, and move through a week of active music-making at Edith Bowen Laboratory School on the Utah State University campus. Sponsored by Cache Children's Choir, master Orff Schulwerk music teachers will share their expertise in group singing, reading rhythmic and solfege notation, playing pitched and non-pitched percussion and developing musicianship through movement. A culminating concert is scheduled for Friday at 2 pm.

Summer Mini Music Camp: Ages 4-6, June 26th-30th

  • Summer Mini-Music Camp is designed to give children ages 4-6 an opportunity to experience and learn about music in a joyful way. Activities will include singing, creative movement, playing simple instruments, singing games, folk dancing, literature and visual art. The camp is sponsored by Cache Children's Choir and the Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Course at Utah State University.

Free Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture Camp

This camp is supported by the Faculty-Student Mentorship Summer Grant provided by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Utah State University.

Monday thru Friday, June 19th - 30th. Session One: 9:00 am to 10:20 am. Session Two: 10:30 to 11:50 am.

We will be teaching:

  • how to introduce yourself
  • how to talk about hobbies
  • how to talk about family
  • opposties (yes, no etc.)
  • numbers
  • Chinese New Year
  • the Dragon Boat Festival
  • Chinese Valentine's Day
  • different Chinese Names
  • Chinese calligraphy

Participants are expected to attend each day, with the pre-requisites of having completed 1st & 2nd grade this academic year, as well as not having any Chinese language skills before coming to camp.

International Quilt Invitational Exhibition(Brigham)

International Quilt Invitational Exhibition

There’s a French flair to the Brigham City Museum’s International Art Quilt Invitational Exhibition set for June 16 through Aug. 31, 2017. Beatrice Bueche of Alsace, France, is the exhibit’s Featured Art Quilter. The crème de la crème or best of the best in her portfolio is presented in the exhibition, including her interpretation of the deadliest foreign attack on American soil on Sept. 11, 2001. The quilt is titled “Why?”

Also “piecing the world together” are quilters from Israel, Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States.

The exhibit is generously supported by Village Dry Goods. Funds to support it have also been provided by the Box Elder County Tourism Tax Advisory Board.

The Brigham City Museum of Art & History is located at 24 North 300 West in Brigham City. The facility is in the lower level of the Senior/Community Center. The entrance is on the west side. From Interstate 15, take the Forest Street exit and travel east to 300 West. The museum is on the corner of Forest Street and 300 West.

11:00 AM Portuguese-Language Storytime

Portuguese-language storytimes will be on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. These are for kids ages 5-up (although if there are any younger ones who speak Portuguese, they're welcome to attend with a parent).

12:00 PM Logan Tabernacle Noon Summer Concert Series

The Logan Tabernacle Summer Concert Series is enjoying it's 16th Season!

The Series starts on May 29th, 2017 and will continue through August 4th. Each weekday, a free concert, open to the public is presented at 12:00 noon in the Logan Tabernacle. Encore Concert to be held Friday, August 11th at 7:00 pm. Outstanding performers are showcased.

The Utah Festival Opera and Old Lyric Repertory Theater also feature performers of their current season of shows.

All concerts are free and open to the public. Please use concert etiquette while attending.

6:30 PM Logan Library Candidate Presentation - Steven Dekker

The Logan Library Board of Trustees invites the public to attend a brief presentation by Steven D. Decker, a candidate for the open position of library director, on Thursday, June 22 at 6:30 PM in the library's Jim Bridger Room.

Mr. Decker, currently director of the Cedar City Public Library, has been asked to present his vision of a 21st-Century Logan Library and community center.

After the presentation, attendees will be encouraged to provide comments to the board. Similar presentations by other candidates will be held in the coming weeks.

7:00 PM Helicon West Open Mic Night

Helicon West is an open-mic reading/featured readers series for local poets and writers. Creative writers are invited to read up to 7 minutes of their original work. Arrive early to sign up. Readings are free, open to the public and uncensored.

Helicon West provides a regularly-scheduled place and time for members of the writing community to give their work a public voice, with no restrictions on levels of skill and no censorship of ideas or craft. Publication of readers' work is a main goal.

Sponsored by the USU Writing Center and the Logan Library.

7:00 PM Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Critique Group

The Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) is presenting a free in-person peer critique session.

This group is open to anyone interested in writing or illustrating for children. Great opportunity to meet and connect with other writers and illustrators in the region.

Bring 4 copies of your Young Adult, Middle Grade or Chapter Book manuscript (up to 5 pages double spaced) or a complete Picture Book manuscript or poem. Illustrators are welcome to share their portfolios.
