Utah Quilt Guild 40th Anniversary Exhibition (Brigham)

A kaleidoscope in fabric, minus the mirrors and bits of glass, awaits visitors to the Brigham City Museum during the Utah Quilt Guild’s Ruby Jubilee Exhibition Jan. 28 through March 25. Admission is free. More than 40 chapters in the guild, which is celebrating its 40th birthday, are represented in the exhibition. Barbara Walsh of Woodland Hills coordinated the event. Walsh, a past president of the guild, says, “Our organization is the first state quilting guild organized in America.”

11:30 AM Cache Interagency Council Lunch

The Cache Interagency Council meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month. For 2017, we meet at Sizzler on Main St. in Logan. We take a break in August & December. All nonprofits and agencies welcome.

The mission of the Cache Interagency Council is to unite service organizations in sharing ideas, upcoming events, and ongoing services, thus producing a spirit of unity and cooperation among the participating organizations.

Our annual Fall Conference is held on the fourth Wednesday in October from 8-1 and features topics to help us better serve our community.

1:30 PM Science Writers Group

The Science Writers Group is focused on improving scientific writing, specifically focused on production of research reports, manuscripts for submission to peer review journals, and grant proposals.

Sessions will involve a two and a half-hour period of focused writing, followed by a half hour of editing and constructive critique by other group members. Members are welcome to bring material they have been working on, but the focus is to generate new writing on site and to make progress on tasks that are not yet finished.

Participants should bring a laptop, flash drive, and any material they need for writing, because Internet and cell phone service are limited.

The Cache Valley Community Writing Center will be holding the following workshops in May:

  • May 3rd: Work that has influenced you
  • May 10th: Representation in writing
  • May 17th: Fantasy Writing
  • May 24th: Fantasy World Builidng and a discussion on Subcreation
  • May 31st: Parody Writing

All CVCWC Worskhops are held in the Brider Room of the Logan Library from 5 pm to 6 pm, Wednesday nights. Free one-on-one tutoring is available from 6 pm to 7 pm. No registration required. Free and open to the public.

Bring a notebook, pencil, blue card and $10 to earn the badge in one night. *Reptiles will require outside work. Environmental will require two days and costs $20.

Classes start at 6:00 in the Wildlife Learning Center at Zootah at Willow Park. You must reserve your spot at least three days in advance, so sign up now!

Choose your option when you sign up from these:

  • February 22nd: Fish and Wildlife Badge
  • March 22nd: Bird Study Badge
  • April 26th & 27th: Environmental Badge (2 days required: 1st night at Zootah, 2nd Night at Logan Nature Center, $20)

6:30 PM Cache Makers: Coding Club

Join Baron Greenback's test through a world of flying robots. This session of coding club will have brief weekly challenges that progress through a completed Scratch game, with parallel challenges in JavaScript. You're also free to work on your own things and go a completely different direction.

Junior (Grades 3-5 | Ages 8-10), Intermediate (Grades 6-8 | Ages 11-13), Senior (Grades 9-12 | Ages 14-17)

This group will meet Wednesdays in the computer lab from 6:30-8:30 pm for six weeks.

Parents of youth qualifying for free or reduced lunch may apply the discount code FRLunch to the tickets of their choice.

Due to new university policy, we can no longer offer discounts for parental involvement.

7:00 PM Love and Logic Parenting Classes

Love & Logic provides simple and easy to use techniques to help parents have more fun and less stress while raising responsible kids of all ages. We provide this course for FREE here at the center.

Each class with consist of:

  • Short Videos
  • Dialogue
  • Small Group Discussion
  • Resources desiged to empower parents

A workbook and writing utensil will be provided. Our library also has supplemental DVD's that can be checked out and brought home.

A three week course is held each month on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Child care is not provided.
