Native Plant Propagation Workshop

This hands-on workshop will focus on propagation tips and techniques associated with growing native plants. Participants will receive 12 varieties of seed, soil and rooting containers with 50-60 native plantlets.

These are duplicate workshops and not a 2 class workshop. Please call the USU Extension Office at 435-752-6263 to register.

Utah Quilt Guild 40th Anniversary Exhibition (Brigham)

A kaleidoscope in fabric, minus the mirrors and bits of glass, awaits visitors to the Brigham City Museum during the Utah Quilt Guild’s Ruby Jubilee Exhibition Jan. 28 through March 25. Admission is free. More than 40 chapters in the guild, which is celebrating its 40th birthday, are represented in the exhibition. Barbara Walsh of Woodland Hills coordinated the event. Walsh, a past president of the guild, says, “Our organization is the first state quilting guild organized in America.”

10:15 AM Utah Water Watch Training

Do you enjoy the outdoors and have an interest the quality of your local water bodies? Utah Water Watch is training volunteers to help collect data on local lakes and streams. Training is open to the public of all ages and levels.

We will start by learning about watershed basics, water quality, and why monitoring is necessary. We will then carpool over to first dam for a field demonstration to learn hands-on monitoring techniques. To RSVP or for more information contact us.

11:00 AM NEHMA Family Art Day

February 18th: Cache County High School Clean Air Poster Awards Ceremony and Clean Air Hang Tag Making. (Held in Library Room 101)

  • Did you know that Cache Valley is home to some of the most polluted air in the country? Join NEHMA and Merrill-Cazier Library staff in making unique rear-view mirror tags to remind drivers in your family about the dangerous effects of idling. And come see the top clean air poster entry finalists for the Cache County High School Clean Air Poster Contest created by students from Logan, Sky View, Ridgeline, InTech, South Campus, and Fast Forward high schools.

March 18th: Maps (Held in Library Room 122)

  • The practice of mapmaking is an ancient form combining science and art. Join NEHMA and Merrill-Cazier Library staff to explore the intersection of art and geography. We will use satellite photography and computers to make artworks about the places you’ve been as well as the places you dream of visiting!

April 15th: Bookmaking (Held in Special Collections Fife Room)

  • Have you ever wanted to make your own book by hand? Join NEHMA and Merrill-Cazier Library staff for a workshop on basic handmade bookmaking. Bring, your own artwork and photos, or learn some techniques for various styles of handmade books.

NEHMA Family Art Day @ USU Merrill-Cazier Library NEHMA will host its Family Art Days at USU’s Merrill-Cazier Library while the Museum is closed for construction. This monthly program takes place from 11am-2pm and is free and open to all. Bring the family for a fun Saturday activity!

7:30 PM Cirk La Putyka: Slapstick Sonata

Visual poetry meets physical comedy meets circus with Prague’s physical theatre company, Cirk La Putyka. Slapstick Sonata tells the story of an overnight crew of warehouse workers who are more than they seem, with a multi-talented cast of dancers, actors, acrobats, mimes, and physical comedians.
