5:00 PM Hearing Music Videos with Dr. Brad Osborn: Music Scholars Series

Brad Osborn is a assistant professor of music theory at the University of Kansas. He is the author of "Everything in its Right Place: Analyzing Radiohead." Adapting a psychology-based approach known as ecological perception, the book demonstrates how Radiohead's music means what it does to listeners with varying degrees of prior experiences in common practice tonal music and post-millennial rock music is published in top theoretical journals and he has spoken at conferences internationally. He writes and records under the moniker D'Archipelago, a "band" composed entirely of him overdubbing all of the vocal and instrumental tracks.

Science Unwrapped, hosted by Utah State University's College of Science, is a public outreach program for inquiring minds of all ages. Participants enjoy a lecture followed by hands-on learning activities.

All ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary with our "Powers of 10" theme for Fall 2018-Spring 2019.

7:30 PM Anna Karenina

In a world of power and knowledge, Anna Karenina is a woman who dares to obey her heart by leaving her scrupulous husband, Karenin, and traveling with her charming lover, Count Vronsky, across Europe in a scandalous affair. Playwright Helen Edmundson illuminates the original story's grand pattern: how the adulterous Anna travels towards disintegration and death while her brother, young landowner Levin, travels toward maturity and a sense of wholeness with his true love, Kitty. Both unique and universal, Anna Karenina is saturated with deep colors and delicate patterns, with riveting motion and rich music, with memorable characters and powerful storytelling. Tolstoy's epic novel remains touching and universal through the lens of this power stage adaptation.
