Mike Getty, paleontologist with the Natural History Museum of Utah, spends his summers finding and excavating dinosaur bones from the Grand Staircase-Escalante Monument area. He has worked on several from the Cretaceous period (between 65 to 145 million years old)--including Utahceratops Gettyi (named after Mike), now on exhibit in the Past Worlds Gallery at the Museum. Mike will discuss the scientific process of discovering, excavating, and preparing fossils and will show a 10-foot skull of Utahceratops and some actual bones from the Museum's collection.
The presentation is free to the public and geared toward dinosaur loves of all ages! Call for more information.
