SNC Explore Snow Science!

clear clear

Come and explore the Science of Snow with Stokes Nature Center! We will learn how snow is formed, how to read the layers in the snow pack and discover what all this means for avalanche risk and spring runoff.

What to wear: Snowshoes provided! Please dress in warm layers and be prepared to spend over an hour outdoors in the snow. Warm water proof boots, socks, snow pants, hat and gloves are especially important.

Carpooling: We will be meeting at First Dam parking lot at 9 am to carpool up to Beaver Bottoms. Our van can hold up to 10 passengers. We will plan to begin the program at 10 am if you prefer to meet us at our destination.
