Summer Slime Recipe
clear

Thank you to everyone who came to our Summer STEAM activity. We didn't expect quite such a huge turnout, though, and we'd like to apologize to those who came after we ran out of materials (next time we make slime, we'll make sure to have enough for more than 100 kids!)

For those who weren't able to make slime here at the library, here's our nearly-failproof recipe.

Summer Slime
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup glue
1/3 cup liquid starch
food coloring
glitter and/or plastic confetti, if desired

Stir the water and glue together in a bowl until they are completely blended. Add food coloring (just 3 or 4 drops). Stir in the starch. The mixture will thicken very quickly. When it gets thick, put your spoon aside and mix it with your hands! Knead and play with the stringy slime until most of the liquid is mixed in and it gets nice and smooth.

Add in some glitter or plastic confetti if desired, and you're done! Store your slime in a plastic zippered baggie. It will stay good for up to 3 weeks.

Note: clear glue will make clear or jewel-tone slime. White glue will make white or pastel-colored slime.

Important: Be sure to wash your hands after mixing slime!
