Special Storytime with Daniel Bishop, June 6th 1:00 pm

Daniel Bishop, the Storyteller, gets messy with a bunch of gross, muddy, dirt-covered, need-to-wash-behind-your-ears tales!

This storytime is for children ages 5-10. Younger children should not plan on attending.

TICKETS ARE REQUIRED.

You may pick up a ticket at the children's desk or the information desk at the library. Tickets will be available starting Thursday, May 30. There are a limited number of ticketa for this event - get yours early!

Celebrate 75 years of the Caldecott Award!

This year is the 75th anniversary of the Caldecott Medal, given each year by the American Library Association to the illustrator of "the most distinguished American picture book for children." Celebrate by reading a Caldecott book! You can find a list here: Caldecott Medal Books

Special Ballet Storytime!

The Cache Valley Civic Ballet is pleased to share "Storytime with the Fairy Godmother."


She has flown in to read stories, talk about the very special slippers Cinderella wears in the ballet, and dance with storytime attendees. She may even grant a few wishes!

Bring your little fairies, dancers, princes and princesses to this very special storytime (and don't forget your camera!)

11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 11 at the Logan Library, Jim Bridger Room.

Come early - seating is limited!

New Award Books!

The American Library Association Awards were announced this morning. Winners are:

Newbery Award: "The One and Only Ivan," by Katherine Applegate

Caldecott Award: "This is Not My Hat," by Jon Klassen

Theodor Seuss Geisel Award: "Up, Tall and High," by Ethan Long


There were 3 Newbery Honor Books:
"Splendors and Glooms," by Laura Amy Schlitz
"Three Times Lucky," by Sheila Turnage
"Bomb: the race to build - and steal - the world's most dangerous weapon," by Steve Sheinkin

Note: "Bomb" also won both the Sibert Medal for best Children's Informational Book and the YALSA Award for best Teen Nonfiction.

There were five Caldecott Honor Books:
"Creepy Carrots," by Aaron Reynolds
"Extra Yarn," by Mac Bennett
"Green," by Laura Vaccaro Seeger
"One Cool Friend," by Toni Buzzeo
"Sleep Like a Tiger," by Mary Logue

There were three Geisel Honor Books:
"Let's Go for a Drive," by Mo Willems
"Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons," by Eric Litwin
"Rabbit and Robot: the Sleepover," by Cece Bell

Kids! Design your own library logo

The Logan Library is holding a contest to design a new library logo (a sign that tells people what we do). Kids can get involved by creating their own design!

Print this Coloring Page or get one at the children's reference desk. Draw your design in the circle and return it to the Circulation Desk before December 15th. Some of the designs will be displayed in the library.

Summer Reading Program Drawing Winners

Register your preschooler for Storytime!

Logan Library's Storytime is a program for children ages 3-5. It introduces children to books, reading and the library. Storytime is offered Tuesday-Thursday at 11:00AM and 1:00PM. Registration is required for each block of Storytime. Each block lasts six weeks. Each session lasts up to 30 minutes.


Registration is required and is open from August 20th - September 7th. You can register online, by phone, or in person at the library.

For children under three, we have a Toddler Time program Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at 11AM that lasts approximately 15 minutes. This is a drop-in storytime and does not require pre-registration.

New Children's Page!

Welcome to the new Children's Page. We will be posting upcoming children's events, activities, and news here, so if you check back often you'll be in on all the fun! As part of our Children's Summer Reading Program we will be holding two more Summer Storytimes on Thursday, July 19th and Thursday, July 26th at 11 AM. No registration is required.

We hope to see you in the children's area of the library!
