Volunteer at the Library

The Logan Library (Logan, Utah) is seeking volunteers who are age 14 years or older. Youth volunteers under the age of 14 are accepted at the discretion of the Library Director and must be supervised at all times by either the child's parent or an approved youth leader. The Library is unable to accept court-appointed service hour volunteers.

Library MaintenanceHelp keep the library looking great and running smoothly. Tasks might include:
  • Dusting shelves
  • Filling paper and pencil containers
  • Straightening and pick up books
  • Stamping discarded books
  • Cutting scrap paper
  • Pull books for displays
  • Helping with organization projects (desk drawers, papers, etc).
Shelving BooksSort and organize carts of items to be shelved and return items to their appropriate place.
Adopt-a-ShelfAdopt a section of library shelving and help maintain proper shelving order for that area.
CollectionsSearch the library catalog and pull books as directed by library staff, check books for damage, help sort items, etc.
Reference DeskAssist librarians and patrons at the Reference Desk. This position requires previous reference experience or formal education in Library Science.
Information DeskAssist patrons with basic questions (such as directional questions) about the library. Spanish speakers are especially needed.
Mending and ProcessingMend damaged library materials or prepare new items to be circulated.
StorytimeAssist at storytime by supervising children and assisting with other duties as needed.
Special ProjectsAssist with special library projects such as library tours, graphic design, brochures, booklists, inventories, or fundraising. Projects may be one time or ongoing.
Public Computer AssistanceOffer basic technical assistance to patrons on our public computers.
