William M. Howell

William Maughan Howell was born on May 5, 1881 in Wellsville, Utah. His parents were Joseph Williams Howell or Morgan and Mary Elizabeth Maughan. He married Celestia (Lettie) Baker on November 12, 1903 and had four sons. He died in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 5, 1949.

Mr. Howell's was known for his business and banking abilities. He was president of the Logan Chamber of Commerce for one term in 1924, president of Howell Real Estate and Investment Coompany in Logan from 1918 to 1930, President of the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Logan, and in 1926 was elected director of the Federal Land Bank in Berkeley, California. He worked there for four years and was then appointed manager of this bank's Utah loan division.

Mr. Howell served as mayor of Logan City from 1920 to 1922.
