Lorenzo Hansen was born on December 1, 1858 in Brigham City, Utah. His parents were Christian Hansen and Elizabeth Ericksen. He married Ann Maria Robbins Mitton on December 11, 1879 and had three children. He died in Logan, Utah on March 21, 1949.
Beginning in 1889 Mr. Hansen was important in the dairy industry of Cache County, Utah. He was the first man to buy milk in wholesale lots from farmers and the first to produce condensed milk in the state. Hansen was a member of the board of trustees of Utah State Agricultural College for ten years from 1896 to 1906, serving on the building committee for the school. In 1914 he was active in plans for raising money for the construction of the Budge Hospital. He later served on the hospital board, first as vice president and later as president.
In 1902 - 1904 Mr. Hansen served as mayor of Logan. He established the Logan municipal electric light plant and was instrumental in the erection of the Utah-Idaho Hospital in Logan.
