John P. Holmgren was a 1914 Swedish immigrant to Cache Valley. He became a prominent painter and interior designer, helping to decorate the LDS Logan Temple and other significant buildings. He was born in 1871 in Sweden and died in Logan, Utah in 1947. This image was taken while he worked in Sweden. This photo is part of the Holmgren Collection

Ella, wife of David Nicholes, was the daughter of John P. Holmgren who was a local painter and designer. Both he and Ella had come from Sweden in 1914. At this time the property was a small farm with sheep and horses and a large garden. This photo is part of the Holmgren Collection

LDS Sixth Ward Building

This building was constructed in 1917 as a home for the Logan Sixth Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Maranatha Baptist Church purchased the building and remodeled the gable design.

The building, built in 1892 by J.R. Edwards. The third floor was removed but the rest of building has been in use since that time. Also pictured are Gallenkamp's Shoe Store and Thomas Jewelers.
