Book: What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy Blundell

This National Book Award winner is part murder mystery, part historical fiction, and part coming of age story. It's targeted at young adults, but its film noir vibe and enticing story will keep adults turning the pages too.

Book: Peace Like a River by Leif Enger
Recommended by: Lois, Associate Librarian
Published in 2001, this beautifully-written novel is about a father raising three children in 1960s Minnesota. Through the voice of eleven-year-old Reuben, it tells about the Land family's cross-country search for Reuben's outlaw older brother, who has been controversially charged with murder. Not to be missed.
