Staff Reading Pick
![]() Here is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff. Book: All But My Life by Gerda Weissman Klein Recommended by: Barbara, Library Technical Assistant All But My Life is the biography of Gerda Weissmann Klein and is the basis for the moving HBO Academy Award winning documentary, "One Survivor Remembers". The book tells of Gerda's experiences during WWII as she loses her family and friends, suffers the deprivations of concentration camps, and embarks on long winter marches through Europe. Though her story tells of horrors, it also mentions friendships and the goodness of people who helped her. This summer I visited a Jewish Synagogue in Poland. Because not one Jewish person returned to this town, the Synagogue now sits empty as a memorial to those who lost their lives. As I visited, I couldn't help but think of Gerta and how amazing it was that a young girl could survive what she did and still see the goodness in people. Want more reading suggestions?
