On Saturday June 6, Logan is celebrating the Sesquicentennial of its founding. To celebrate the city is hosting an all day event that includes special guest speakers, walking tours of Logan, and historical displays. For more information, visit the City of Logan website.

The Logan Library is commemorating the occasion by creating an online collection of historic photos. These photos feature recognizable landmarks throughout our 150 year history. clear
bookcover: Barefoot Heart
Barefoot Heart: Stories of a Migrant Child by Elva Trevino Hart has been selected as the 2009 USU Common Literature Experience book. The Common Literature Experience book is selected each year by the USU Connections program, and it is read by all incoming Freshman who participate in Connections. The University also invites the local community to read the book and join in the experience. Jason Cornelius, the Logan Library's representative on the Connections Committee, shares his thoughts about Barefoot Heart: "I was plunged into the world of child migrant workers, and my eyes were further opened to the struggles of so many in our land of plenty."

Elva Trevino Hart, the books author, will be speaking to this year's Connections class at the Kent Concert Hall on Saturday August 22, 2009. Local community members are welcome to attend this event. Visit the Common Literature Experience website to learn more about the program and this year's book.
