Barefoot Heart: Stories of a Migrant Child by Elva Trevino Hart has been selected as the 2009 USU Common Literature Experience book. The Common Literature Experience book is selected each year by the USU Connections program, and it is read by all incoming Freshman who participate in Connections. The University also invites the local community to read the book and join in the experience. Jason Cornelius, the Logan Library's representative on the Connections Committee, shares his thoughts about Barefoot Heart: "I was plunged into the world of child migrant workers, and my eyes were further opened to the struggles of so many in our land of plenty."


Elva Trevino Hart, the books author, will be speaking to this year's Connections class at the Kent Concert Hall on Saturday August 22, 2009. Local community members are welcome to attend this event.
