Nobel Prize in Literature Announced
The 2007 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to Doris Lessing, a British writer best known for her 1962 book, The Golden Notebook. The prize announcement describes Lessing as "that epicist of the female experience, who with skepticism, fire and visionary power has subjected a divided civilization to scrutiny". Banned Books Week
This week (Sept 29 - Oct 6) is Banned Books Week. Banned Books week is an annual event that celebrates freedom to read or the freedom to express one's opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of those unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them. To see a list of books that others have attempted to ban, view The American Library Association's list of The 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books.
Celebrate your freedom to read by selecting a book from a list of banned books available at the Logan Library.
