This week (Sept 29 - Oct 6) is Banned Books Week. Banned Books week is an annual event that celebrates freedom to read or the freedom to express one's opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of those unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them. To see a list of books that others have attempted to ban, view The American Library Association's list of The 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books. ![]() The 2007 Hugo Awards were announced on September 1. The award for best novel went to Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge. We will purchase this book and add it to our collection.
