Centennial Celebration at Logan Library - 1950s

Get hip with the 1950s @ the Logan Library. We're cookin' up a blast playing cool games of the time. Our ice cream sodas are sure to stir the night with those Malt Shoppe Memories. You'll be in Fat City!

When: Friday, September 18th - 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Lake Bonneville Room
  • Play games popular during the 1950s - Risk, Candyland, Sorry, Yahtzee, Mr. Potato Head
  • Win some 'Play-Doh'
  • Enjoy an ice cream soda
  • Centennial READ poster photo booth, more information.
This program is part of the Logan Library Centennial Commemoration.

Hispanic Heritage Month / Mes de la Herencia Hispana

September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month and the Logan Library is celebrating!

We will be hosting activities throughout September and October to celebrate Hispanic Culture. Mark your calendar for the following great family activities:
  • Thursday, September 17th 6:30 p.m.: Special movie presentation of The Book of Life (PG) - A recent animated family film steeped in Dia de los Muertos culture, in English with Spanish subtitles
  • Thursday, September 24th at 3:30 p.m.: Afterschool Activity: Hispanic Stories and Crafts - We'll have some fun stories, do Mexican folk-art finger paintings, make Guatamalan 'worry dolls,' and more.
  • Saturday, September 26th from 10:00 - 2:00 p.m.: Hispanic Heritage Festival on the library plaza. There will be food, music, dance performances, prizes and lots of fun
  • Friday, October 9th 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.: Friday night Gallery Walk featuring the photographic art of Johnny Lopez and the pinatas of Gloria Perez.
  • Friday, October 9th at 6:30 p.m.: Special movie presentation of Frida (R*) - A critically-acclaimed biographical drama of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, in English with Spanish subtitles, shown while we are open late for the gallery walk (*Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian)

Comic Con Fandom Event at the Logan Library

Comic ConGet your geek on at the library! In preparation for the Salt Lake Comic Con, we are showing movies and vids featuring some of this year's Comic Con guests!

The State Library, in conjunction with Salt Lake Comic Con, has provided several day passes participants can enter to win!!

When: This Saturday (Sept. 12th) from 10:00 a.m. TO 6:00 p.m.
Where: Jim Bridger Room

Popcorn and candy will be provided.
