National Friends of Libraries Week October 18-24th

Come help the Friends of the Logan Library celebrate National Friends of Libraries Week by attending some of our special events:

Special Book Sale at the Friend's Book Store.
$5 for a bag of books!

  • Monday - Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    Wednesday, October 21 - All Day
  • Displays on US and World Events of the 1960s with recordings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and John F. Kennedy.

    Wednesday, October 21 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Dr. Ross Peterson, USU Professor, will lead a presentation on The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.

  • Come be a Friend to YOUR library and get some good books and information in the process.

    Centennial Celebration at Logan Library - 1960s
    clear
    As part of the Logan Library Centennial Celebration, The Friends of Logan Library is co-sponsoring the celebration of the decade of the 1960s.

    When: Monday, October 19th - 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
    Where: Lake Bonneville Room
    • There will be a variety of displays showing the social, cultural, and historic elements that were the 1960s. These displays include: literature, music, movies, television, food, the space race, Vietnam, cold war events, and local history.
    • There will be games, invented during the 1960s, including: The Game of Life, Battleship, Stratego, and Twister that patrons can play.
    • There will be candy available that was invented during the 1960s.
    • This will be followed by a showing of the movie The Jungle Book at 6:30 pm in the Bridger room. This movie came out originally in 1967 as part of the Disney cartoon lineup.
    • Centennial READ poster photo booth, more information.
    This program is part of the Logan Library Centennial Commemoration.

    Library Open Late Friday For Gallery Walk
    clear
    The library will remain open later than normal on Friday, October 9th to participate in the CVCA Gallery Walk. We will be featuring a variety of artists in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.
    • The Gallery Wall will feature the photography of Johnny Lopez, a self taught freelance natural light digital photographer.
    • Music will be provided by classical guitarist Eric Burton.
    • Beautiful handmade piƱatas by Gloria Perez will be on display.
    • We'll also be have a free showing of the critically-acclaimed film Frida, a biographical drama about Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. This film is rated R. For anyone under 17, an accompanying parent or adult guardian is required.
    When: Friday, October 9th: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
    Where: Logan Library
