![]() Here is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff. Book: Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber Recommended by: Karen, Senior Librarian We return to Seattle for number 4 in the Blossom Street series. Debbie Macomber brings together four widows whose lives have not turned out as planned. Each writes a list of twenty wishes of things they always wanted to do but never have. These women find out that wishes can come true, but perhaps not in the way you expect. This heartwarming novel left me looking forward to the next one in the Blossom Street series. ![]() Here is another reading pick from the Logan Library Staff. Book: The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher by Kate Summerscale Recommended by: Katrina, Library Technical Assistant In 1860, Jonathan Whicher, one of the original eight Scotland Yard officers, is sent to an English country house to investigate the murder of a child that has stumped the local constabulary. Filled with quotes from contemporary newspapers & journalists, as well as theories from Charles Dickens & Wilkie Collins, The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher provides a detailed & delving look at Victorian society as it became consumed with a gruesome murder and its ensuing investigation. The book also provides insight into the development of the "detective", both in fact & fiction. Many details of the case, and Whicher himself, helped to shape the emerging genre of the detective novel. Want more reading suggestions?
