National Library Week 2011

Create Your Own Story @ Your Library

National Library Week is April 10-16, 2011. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. This year's theme is Create Your Own Story @ Your Library.

Prizes for All Ages

To celebrate we're sponsoring drawings and prizes for library users of all ages.

Children: We're having two drawings for children. Children up to age 6 can enter a drawing to win a plush moose and the book Duck, Duck, Moose by author Judith Torres. Children ages 7 to 11 can enter a drawing to win one of three prizes: The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do It Yourself Book, Big Nates Boredom Buster, or a Creatology art set.

Teens: On April 22 five popular authors are visiting the Logan Library. Teens in middle school and high school can visit the library during National Library Week to enter a drawing to win a gift set with books by two of these authors. The five teens who win can bring their books to the library on April 22 and get them signed by the authors.

Adults: Adults can enter a drawing to win one of several giftcards to a local book store.

Drop-in Storytime

On Friday April 15 at 11:00 AM we are holding a drop-in storytime--no registration required. Local author Judith Torres will be reading her recently released book Duck, Duck, Moose. Children under age three must be accompanied by an adult.

Book Sale

We're holding a Book Sale on Friday April 15 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. We will be selling paperback and hardbound books for adults and children along with movies, music and audiobooks. Most items cost between $.50 and $2.00.
