David Eccles House

This home was built in 1907. It was built as the residence of the second wife of David Eccles, Ellen Stoddard. Early in the twentieth century, Utah State University acquired downtown houses for use by its students, and the David Eccles home became a dorm for upper-class women in 1946. In 1956 it became Kerr Hall, a dorm for forty-five male students. It is currently owned by S.E. Needham, III, known for his various business interests throughout Logan.

David Thomas House

This home was built in 1907 by David and Kathy (Thatcher) Thomas. David Thomas managed the Thatcher Milling and Elevator Company for many years. He married Katherine Thatcher, daughter of the prominent George W. Thatcher.

Dinner table set by Dean Christine B. Clayton from the School of Home Economics at Utah State Agricultural College (now USU). The table was set as part of an activity in the library by the Logan Flower Garden Club.

Doctor Pierce's Barn
College Ward, Utah

Sometime after 1904 and before 1929, College Ward farmer Lovenus Olsen was approached by a Dr. Pierce salesman concerning the side of his barn, which stood in an ideal well-traveled location next to Highway 89-91.

Dr. Isaac Perry Stewart, Sr.
Logan, Utah

Dr. Isaac Perry Stewart, Sr., the son of James Zebulon & Julia Ann Wadsworth (Fitzgerald) Stewart, was born in 1873. He was the first certified dentist in Utah, practicing for over 45 years. Many will remember his office on the top floor of the Logan First National Bank at the corner of 1st North and Main Streets. Dr. Stewart was a graduate of the Loyola Dental School, University of Chicago, Illinois in May of 1905.

In 1902, Isaac married Rebecca Evans, daughter of Morgan Samuels Evans and Johanna Lovisa (Lofdahl) Evans who were one of the first families to settle Logan in 1859. Isaac and Rebecca were the parents of five children: Portia Stewart Southwick, Julia Stewart Gibbs, Isaac Perry Stewart, Jr., Rebecca Evans Winder, and Agnes Cassidy Stewart Zollinger.

The building on the far left is the president's home. The building on the right is the south wing of Old Main. The building left of Old Main is the Experimental Station. The Model Barn was built in 1890 as a laboratory for the agricultural programs of the college the same year classes began.

Edward & Seth Hanson

(Left) Edward Blair Hanson and (Right) Seth Alfred Hanson, both sons of Edward & Martha J. (Blair) Hanson. Edward was born August 13, 1882 in Logan, Utah. He married Leah Nora Daniels in 1905, and died in California in 1970. Seth was born August 25, 1884 in Salt Lake City, Utah, married Gladys V. Rose in 1922, and died in Logan, Utah in 1948.

Edward Hanson, son of Lars & Cajsa (Pehrson) Hanson, was born October 30, 1855 in Sweden. In 1881 he married Martha Jane Blair. He died in Logan, Utah in 1918.

Eldred Waldron

Born in 1910 in Morgan, Utah, Eldred became a significant Utah Banker. Among his many accomplishments, he was the president of the Logan Savings and Loan. He died in Logan in 1992.
