Utah State University Student Stake Center Buildin

This meetinghouse, designed by James H McCrea, was built as the U.S.U. Stake Center, containing two chapels to accommodate four University wards, the USU First, Fifth, Seventh and Eighth wards. Groundbreaking occurred on May 2, 1961 and was done by President David O Mckay. Construction was completed in 1962 and has since been known fondly as "The Golden Toaster". In 2012 a land swap was approved by the trustee of Utah State University gave the final approval to accept this building and land as part of a land swap with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is likely to be raised to make way for needed construction on the university campus.
