Obituary/Newspaper Article Lookups
clear

Family or personal history researchers often contact us with lookup requests for obituaries or historic newspaper articles. The staff and volunteers of the special collections are happy to conduct a search and make copies.

Because there is not an index to our newspaper archive, we require a starting point to begin our search. In the case of obituaries, we normally search the week of newspapers after an individual's death. The library only charges for this service if the request includes a large number of copied pages.

If you would like to submit a lookup request, please fill out the online form.

Logan City Polk Directories
clear

Often, we get requests for Polk Directories. Printed nearly every year, these directories are helpful to locate individuals by name or identify who was living at a certain address in the past.

We have an extensive collection, available for the community to use. Our print volumes go back to 1929 with the years before the fifties having sporadic coverage. We also have a collection on microfilm that overlaps the print collection and goes back to 1904.

Other directories may also be used as an alternative:

Another Way to Access Historical Photographs
clear

As we add more content to our digital collections, there's been a desire to find a way to add the photographs to an online map. This would allow us to better understand where the photographs were taken and how things have changed over time. We have therefore begun to experiment with HistoryPin.

Go to the site and give us some feedback on what you think!
